Winter Salon Fundraiser 2024
We are excited to announce that our annual Winter Salon Fundraiser will take place from 24 October – 9 November 2024, in Studio 12.
The Winter Salon is an important event and opportunity for our organisation to raise money to support our artistic programme, our artist developmental support programme and to keep our fees affordable and subsidised. The proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will fund part of our 2025 Programme, our professional development activities, our visiting curator programme and additional BAN activities.
This year the Fundraising committee have decided to refresh and revitalise the event. We are asking all Backwater Artist Members (studio, darkroom, network), as part of their membership contributions, to specially make and donate 1-3 artworks on paper on a standard A4 or A5 size. These artworks will be sold during the Winter Salon in Studio 12 and online for €150 and €200. There is no set theme for the artwork. We will also be asking artists within Cork and pervious members to submit artworks to the fundraiser.

There will also be an exhibition of higher priced works in the newly renamed 1st floor corridor, now called The Long Space, which we are asking members to submit work for and a raffle. We are asking all members to support us and make work for the Winter Salon artworks. Paper is now available from the office for you to collect. If anyone has any questions, please get in touch. Deadline for submissions for both the Winter Salon and The Long Space exhibition (1st Floor corridor) is Monday 30 September, 5pm.
