Open Call for Emerging Curators
Backwater Artists Group is looking for submissions from emerging curators for our inaugural Emerging Curators Award 2025. The initiative will support an emerging curator to develop their curatorial practice and gain experience in all aspects of exhibition production. The successful candidate will work with our team to produce a members group exhibition or project, for our Studio 12 exhibition/project space, as part of our artistic programme for 2025. The curator will receive a curators fee and a production budget for the exhibition/project.

About Backwater Artists Group
Established in 1990 by artists for artists, our mission is to support and advocate for visual artists, enabling them to thrive at all stages of their careers. Located in Cork City Centre, we provide high-quality affordable studios, with the security of tenure and access to facilities and developmental support for visual artists. Through our programmes, we provide an essential platform for showcasing contemporary art in Cork and we aim to foster a deep appreciation for the visual arts by connecting and engaging with audiences, in an impactful way. We currently support 90+ artist sthrough our various memberships, studio, darkroom an dnetwork.
Studio 12 Objectives
Studio 12 supports artists to produce new and innovative work and operates as a public testing ground for new artworks and ideas. The space is programmed with the aim of engaging new and diverse audiences and facilitating a thoughtful and flexible approach to exhibition making.
