Parlor Games

Saturday, 12 October, 1 – 3:30pm. Studio 12

Backwater Artist Group presents Parlor Games, a series of bespoke workshops led by Ciara Rodgers and Lynn-Marie Dennehy that will explore different ways of creating a critical dialogue between artists. Each workshop will explore new methods of engagement through games, troubleshooting and peer discussions. The sessions will provide a platform to test ideas, receive critical feedback and engage in with fellow artists in a supportive and fun environment.

Lynn-Marie Dennehy a visual artist working within an expanded research-based practice that employs printmaking, sculpture, video, and performance with influences from philosophy, history, and mythology. She is a full-time studio member of Backwater Artists Group and Cork Printmakers. Dennehy has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has worked on and participated in several international arts events both in Ireland and the USA. She received an MA in Art and Process and a BA in Fine Art from MTU Crawford College of Art and Design where she is currently an assistant lecturer.

Ciara Rodgers is a visual artist and academic based in Munster, Ireland with an MA in Art from MTU Crawford College of Art and Design. Her practice of emotionally mapping contemporary experience in the context of humanity’s impact on territory considers texture, colour, structure, openings and accidents leading to works created in installation, drawing, photography and performance. Rodgers’ work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, held in both public and private collections and she holds an eight- year studio licence at Backwater Artists Group. She lectures in Art History and Art Studio modules on the SETU Waterford BA(hons) Visual Art course.

Instagram for Artists with Éadaoin Glynn

18 September, 6pm – 7pm. Online

Éadaoin Glynn is a visual artist who uses Instagram as part of her marketing toolkit. During the workshop, she will share how she finds the platform useful to share work, connect with the art community and build relationships with collectors. Participants will be asked to complete a short survey in advance of the workshop so Éadaoin can tailor it to your needs.
