Backwater Artists Group presented FALTER. CHECK. RESOLVE, an exhibition by Anna Barden is from 19th August – 29th September 2022 in Studio 12.
The exhibition showcased a set of remarkable chess pieces created from drawings, ceramic works and an accompanying wall text which is a personal memory. FALTER. CHECK. RESOLVE makes reference to the chess game in Samuel Beckett’s novel Murphy wherein the drawings are absurd in that the chess pieces are all horses.
As well as the exhibiton itself, free lunchtime tours, an Artists Talk, and an In Conversation event with Anna Barden and David Dobz O’Brien took place where the public had the chance to gain insights into the creation of the work.
