This Place | Róisín O’Sullivan
This Place, an exhibition of new work by artist Róisín O’Sullivan opens Thursday the 6th of February from 6pm, The Jennings Gallery, Brookfield Health Sciences Complex, UCC. The exhibition will continue to run until the 1stof April.
Róisín’s work continues to explore process, surface and experimentation through painting, drawing and printmaking.
Looking to the landscape as a source of inspiration the influence of topography, line and mark-making creates a visual language within the work. Sourcing different forms of wood, Róisín delves deeper into the surface by carving within the layers of the work, causing tension between paint and woodcut techniques.
This Place is Róisín’s fifth solo exhibition to date, yet her first in her hometown of Cork. In 2015, she graduated with an MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, London. In 2020, Róisín will complete a residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre awarded by the Cork County Arts Office in 2019. She will also participate in residencies at Cill Rialaig Art Project in Kerry, and PADA Art Residency in Portugal.
