Open for exhibition viewing, studio visits and a chance to meet the artists.

Backwater Artists Group will be open from 5-7 pm for tours of our artists’ studios and for viewing of our current exhibitions, A Thousand Years by studio member Joseph Heffernan and Hand of Man by members of Backwater Artists Group. Artists will be on hand to talk about their work. This is a unique opportunity to visit our artists’ studios, our exhibitions and get an insight into our artists’ work and the day-to-day life of an artist.

A Thousand Years | Joseph Heffernan

Joseph Heffernan’s exhibition A Thousand Years expands his painting practice, building upon his existing preoccupation with the intertwined nature of memory and fantasy. Incorporating new elements that hover between assemblage and sculpture, the work encompasses the entirety of the gallery space, involving three-dimensional elements in a range of materials such as wood, plaster, silk flowers, household paint and textiles, collected objects and organic matter to expand the visual environment of the paintings.
