Tom Doig

Bio

Tom is a collage artist and muralist who has been based in Cork City since 1994. He studied at Crawford College of Art and Design from 2005 graduating with an Honours Degree in 2009 and returning to complete a Masters in Arts and Process in 2017. 

Tom’s working practice involves an ongoing engagement with traditional collage methods, encompassing various approaches to the selection, extraction and material manipulation of visual information from found sources.

Working through a unifying process of composition, Tom seeks to create imaginative disruptions to the received ideas and factual information which are inherent within the source material. He works with digital software as well as original print material and paper, to create speculative fictions which challenge the visible and invisible structures of received knowledge. By maintaining their spatial framework as photographs he is attempting to lend these fictional compositions a tenuous validity.
