Artist Statement
My Work is entirely inspired by my experiences of being close to the sea all my life. My paintings and drawings include direct responses to the rock formations along the coastline, the ruined buildings and the hulks of ships manoeuvring through the harbour. I can see my work is evolving more towards abstract as I explore the marks and shapes I am making by drawing blind and drawing from memory. I find these techniques liberating and exciting and they are revealing a more fluid and direct link from my memory, through my body to the working surface.
