Bio
I’m a Cork-based visual artist graduating with BA (hons) in Fine Art from the Crawford College of Art & Design in June 2020 with multiple bursaries, residencies and exhibition awards, including the Ciarán Langford Memorial Bursary from Backwater Artists Group.
In 2022, my work was selected for inclusion in ‘Generation 2022: New Irish Painting’, curated by Anna O’Sullivan at Butler Gallery, Kilkenny. Alongside this, I made artwork for the UCC Glucksman collection for a commission project titled Memory of Place, following research collaboration with a group of older people from Cork City , UCC academic Denis Linehan and site visits. The MTU CCAD Valerie Gleeson Development Bursary enabled me to realise a two-person exhibition in Nano Nagle Place with PhD painting student Flavia Lugigan who visited from Romania, whom I had met while on Erasmus there in 2019. I was selected to make a large scale painting commission for the main reception area of DCU in Glasnevin, after an 8 week process undertaken by 14 staff members titled ‘Your Collection, Your Choice’, and I was awarded the Arts Council Agility Award 2022 to enable research in order to progress my work for my next solo exhibition in 2023 at the Kilkenny Arts Festival.
I hold a BMus and MA in Musicology, and have been working as a free-lance professional musician since 2000, playing double bass and bass guitar in a variety of genres including jazz, opera, musical theatre, pop, heavy metal and big band, playing in Ireland and internationally. I have worked as a music teacher, primarily giving one-on-one lessons to grade students, as well as third level tutorials and lectures in music orchestration.
