Visiting Curators

6 visiting curators will be scheduled each year for onsite studio visits. Members who do not have a studio in the complex will be allocated a space within the complex for the curator visit. We aim to provide each member with at least one curator visit per year. Please email elaine@backwaterartists.ie to book a slot
Visiting Curators 2025
Wednesday April 9 | Mark O’Gorman | The Complex
Mark O’Gorman is the inaugural curator and producer of visual art at The Complex, a multi-disciplinary arts centre in Dublin’s north inner city, since 2018. The exhibition programme focuses on commissioning site-specific work with a prolonged developmental process and conversational approach with artists, who are carefully brought together in relation to one another. Mark has presented exhibitions and events at The Complex featuring artists including Jeremy Deller, Vivienne Dick, Aleana Egan, Jaki Irvine, Sean Lynch, Dennis McNulty, and Locky Morris. He co-curated Fly Floor in 2023 with Niamh O’Malley in partnership with the Ireland tour of Ireland at Venice at The Complex.
Thursday April 10 | Davey Moor | RHA Gallery Curator
Thursday May 22 | Katie O’Grady | Glucksman Gallery, Cork | Curator of Exhibitions & Projects
I am an event manager, curator and creative producer with over seven years of experience in managing projects, exhibitions and events in Ireland and Scotland. My practice centres on collaboration, social engagement, support and sustainable futures. I am particularly interested in ‘working in friendship’ and durational research that produces multi-disciplinary outputs across exhibitions, writing, moving image, talks and workshops. I hold an MLitt (Distinction) in Curatorial Practice (Contemporary Art) from the Glasgow School of Art and the University of Glasgow and a BA (Honors) in Printmaking and Contemporary Practice from Limerick School of Art and Design, Ireland.
