We are delighted to share that Backwater Artists Group member Deirdre O’Mahony is currently exhibiting in Rememory, the 25th Biennale of Sydney—one of the world’s leading international contemporary art events.

Selected by curator Hoor Al Qasimi, Deirdre presents The Quickening, a sound and moving image work exploring land, its many inhabitants, and the impacts of accelerating climate change.

Rememory brings together artists engaging with memory and history as acts of reconstruction, reclaiming overlooked narratives and reshaping connections to place, identity and belonging.

Deirdre’s work is presented at Lewers, Penrith Regional Gallery, Australia, from 14 March to 14 June 2026.
Deirdre will also present Joy #5: a (sort of) retrospective at Lombardi—Kargl, Vienna, opening 10 April 2026.
