“I would like to invite individuals to tell me about their plants via a dedicated Instagram page, by email (see below) or by arranging a visit with said plants.  Please join me in Studio 12 for a  ‘Plant Show and Tell’ event  on Thursday the 12th of October where participants can bring their plants; and exchange stories, tips and ideas.”

Samuels Writes:

This is a drawing research project exploring the representation of plants and reflection on the care and companionship people share with their plants. I will be gathering first hand information from the public in the form of pictures and stories, to inform how I create drawings. I will respond to the qualities of potted plants and how they exist and adapt to the environment in Studio 12. I am interested in reflecting the quirks and characteristics of these plants and how my bond with them affects me and the drawings I create. These and other findings will be exhibited on the 19th and 20th of October in Studio 12.

With participants’ permission I will use the information shared to contribute to my work. The project will conclude with a short exhibition running from 5pm Thursday 19th and 20th of October.The event will open with a presentation of findings with a questions and answers session.
