Congratulations to Backwater member Helen O’Shea, who has been selected as Artist in Residence at Artlink in Fort Dunree, Co. Donegal, for the month of August.

During her residency, Helen aims to inspire new ways of thinking about discarded materials, with a particular focus on the responsible use of waste plastics as an artistic material. Her project will explore how waste can be transformed into artworks that reflect local narratives and global concerns, while fostering dialogue around environmental sustainability and encouraging community participation.

Artlink was established in 1992 and is the longest-established professional visual arts organisation in Inishowen, Co. Donegal. Its office, studios and workshop spaces are based at the historic and picturesque Fort Dunree Military Museum in Buncrana.
