The workshop will cover:
 
  • Pre-production – Planning ahead and considering how work could be displayed.
  • Handling & Transport – Best practices for handling, packaging, labelling and condition reporting.
  • Surface Preparation – Preparing walls, including filling, painting and other essential preparations.
  • 2D Work Hanging – Exploring different options for hanging and displaying work on walls.
  • AV & Technology – Understanding the equipment and considerations required for audio-visual works.
  • Tool Use – Learning how to select the right tools for the job and use them safely.

As Backwater’s resident Exhibition Technician, Seán Daly oversees installations in Studio 12 and The Long Space galleries. He brings over 10 years of experience in exhibition production, having worked with major cultural events and institutions including PhotoIreland Festival, Futures Academy, Sounds from a Safe Harbour, Cork Harbour Festival, The Complex Dublin, GOMA Waterford and Butler Gallery Kilkenny.
