Open calls are a fundamental aspect of the Irish visual arts sector, providing established platforms for the presentation of art and thus enabling exposure that may lead to institutional and commercial opportunities. This workshop helps artists identify and prepare proposals for exhibitions, as well as develop pathways for artistic and career advancement. The session reviews key open calls in Ireland, considers submission requirements and advice by curators active in the country, and offers tools to describe core elements of practice.

The workshop is led by curator Miguel Amado, curator and critic, and Director of Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh. It is a full day workshop for members of Backwater Artists Group.
