Curator Visits
Dawn Hill & Michael Hill
Wednesday 8 October | Dawn Williams is a curator, project manager and facilitator with over twenty years of exhibition-making experience. She is a curator at Crawford Art Gallery, Cork and recent exhibitions include ‘A Matter of Time’ (2024); ‘Bodywork-Recent Acquisitions from IMMA and Crawford Art Gallery’ (2023); ‘Corban Walker: As Far As I Can See’ (2022) and ‘Saturation: The Everyday Transformed’ co-curated with William Laffan (2022); ‘Daphne Wright A quiet mutiny’ (2020).
She is a curator of Artists’ Film International screening programme. A visiting lecture at Chelsea College, UAL, London and MTU CCAD, Cork, she holds a MA Visual Art Practices, Curatorial (IADT Dublin) and has written for a number of publications and artists’ catalogues. She is member of ICOM, IMA and AICA.
Monday 8 & Tuesday 9 December | Michael Hill is Programme Curator at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Dublin, Ireland, and one half of the curatorial team (with Clíodhna Shaffrey) that represented Ireland at the 59th Venice Biennale 2022, and Irish Tour 2023, with artist Niamh O’Malley.
His exhibition programming increasingly foregrounds practices by artists living in diaspora, and those working with subjects relating to migration, including land, displacement, conflict, grief, storytelling, and dreaming. In 2025 he will curate solo exhibitions in Temple Bar Gallery + Studios by Dragana Jurišić, Jorge Satorre, Frank Sweeney; The Model, Sligo by Mairead O’hEocha; and Weatherproof, Chicago by Liliane Puthod. He will also curate an exhibition of emerging Irish artists in partnership with Southwark Park Galleries, London.
In his practice-led curatorial work, he collaborates closely with artists to produce site- and contextually-responsive exhibitions, whether they are in a gallery setting or outside of formal situations. In 2024 he curated two major off-site solo exhibitions in the active industrial setting of Dublin Port, integrating large-scale immersive installations into a disused pump house building (Yuri Pattison) and open air graving docks (Liliane Puthod).
Members who do not have a studio onsite will be provided with a space to meet the curators.
