The Curator Visit is led by curator Miguel Amado, curator and critic, and Director of Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh. 

Miguel Amado is a curator and a critic. He has been Director of Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh, County Cork, since 2020. There, the programme involves producing and presenting new work through collaboration with artists and communities, often featuring practices exploring underrepresented and underprivileged identities and narratives. In 2026, highlights of the programme at Sirius Arts Centre include exhibitions by Cork County-based artists Basil Al-Rawi and Leanne McDonagh, as well as Mozambican artist Osías André. Key exhibitions that he has curated at Sirius Arts Centre and other Irish venues through touring schemes include artists from or based in Ireland, such as Samir Mahmood, Alice Rekab, Thaís Muniz, Marianne Keating, Sarah Browne, and Amna Walayat, as well as international artists such as Anton Vidokle, Partisan Social Club, and Daniela Ortiz.

His past posts include directorships and curatorial roles at Cork Printmakers; Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art and Tate St Ives in England; Abrons Arts Center and Rhizome at the New Museum in New York; and PLMJ Foundation and Visual Arts Centre in Portugal. He is a regular contributor to the Visual Artists’ News Sheet and Artforum, and has edited and written for numerous books and catalogues, including a monograph by Anton Vidokle and a 10-year series surveying the collection of the PLMJ Foundation. He holds an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art, London.
