Artist Statement

I am a visual artist from Clare currently living and working in Cork city. My practice stems from a lifelong infatuation with textiles, cloth and material processes.  Informed by the beauty and isolation of growing up in the Burren I aim to use heritage as an exercise in empathy. I am particularly interested in rituals, the land and the domestic and how these relate to the body, the self, the collective and the psyche.  I combine objects made with traditional and self developed textile techniques with found and living materials to create sculptures and installations that explore inner landscapes.
