Artist Statement

Through the action of painting – the accumulation of subjective, embodied, expressive gestures, an organic synthesis between external and internal worlds takes shape on the canvas. The medium of oil paint, with its thick viscosity, malleability and endless possibilities of colour is ideally suited  to explore this process where observations, drawings and responses to the natural world have space to merge with the subjective lifeworld of the artist.
