Joy McAllen
Artist Bio
Joy McAllen is a painter and stained glass artist from Cork. She studied Fine Art at the Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork, and Traditional Glass Painting at Williams & Byrnes, Ludlow, Wales. Concentrating mainly on stained glass for many years, she completed numerous public and residential commissions across the country.
Ecclesiastical works include St. Gobnait`s Church, Dun Chaoin, Co. Kerry and Saleen Church, Midleton, Co. Cork. In 2017 she began painting in oils. Since then she has exhibited her paintings in the Lavit Gallery Members Exhibition 2024 and 2025 and has had a solo exhibition in the Black Valley Makers, Fermoy, Co.Cork in 2024.
She has been awarded the Individual Artists Bursary, Cork City Council 2020, Ballinglen Arts. Foundation Bursary 2017, and the Cill Rialaig Residency, Co.Kerry 2017. Publications include Glass Society of Irelands ‘A Celebration of Irish Glass 2015 & 2016’.
She is a professional member of Visual Artists Ireland.
