Cara Brophy
Bio
Within my paintings the language of Geometric Abstraction emerges from my everyday encounter with Architectural Design. Using planes of vibrant colour I respond to various shapes and patterns that I see in structures to form abstract compositions. Horizontal and vertical lines collide with geometric shapes as they merge and diverge on the canvas bringing an element of tension within the layers of paint and pencil. Observed forms join utopian visions and simultaneously coexist in a real and imagined space.
