Artist Statement

Historically my work responds to human impact within our land and seascape and the need for responsible use and stewardship of our environment. I share the uniquely beautiful Atlantic environment I have explored by sea through sculptural ceramic vessels photography and glass. My sculptural ceramic vessels investigate the creative and destructive forces of nature visible in Atlantic coastal geology. I consider the erosive processes of wind and water and emulate these forces while making. Layering different coloured clays, marbling, tearing, compressing together, seam and strata, to echoing the tortured seascape of my inspiration. The kiln cast glass work is a visual response to the physical and transcendent experience of ocean exploration. The primary intention of my work is conservation of theses special places.
