Norma Walsh is a native of Cork city. She attended the Crawford College of Art and Design in the early 70’s and forged a career in graphic design working as a design/finished artist with O’Kennedy Brindley and Oben Design. She graduated from CCAD in 2012 with an honours degree in Fine Art and was the recepient of the Registrars Prize for a solo exhibition at the James Barry Exhibition Centre, CIT Campus. The exhibition Soundings in Fathoms took place in March 2013. She was also awarded a solo exhibition by the Castlemartyr Resort for the summer of 2013 and chosen for the annual Fledglings at the Lavit Gallery.
Her work is now part of several corporate collections including CIT, Eli Lilly, and Castlemartyr Resort, and private collections in Ireland, Europe and USA.
A deep love of nature and its supremacy over human fragility is the strongest influence in her work. Drawing very much from her immediate environment and the unspoilt western landscape, her paintings seek to capture the prevailing atmosphere imposed by the physical world.
