Susan O’Leary

 

Susan’s interest in perception and memory in relation to the human form has resulted in work which is about how gesture and movement through time can be evoked in a painted image. Inspired by photography and film and the individuals she meets, she makes paintings of people (usually in oil on canvas) which often form a series of two or more sequential images. In these images small portions of time in relation to human activity are documented. This attempt to include a sense of motion both spatial and temporal in a portrait is, for Susan, a more intuitive response to making a representation of the human person in paint and is a reference to the temporary nature of who we are.

Susan completed an Honours Bachelor Degree in Fine Art at the Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork City in 2013. Shows she has exhibited at include :
