Éilis Ní Fhaoláin

“My work examines the stuff of daily life , often within a domestic context.  Imagery is used to suggest a storyline and I like to balance the banal with the absurd. Everyday objects –  brooms, chairs, soap and dishcloths – are combined with found objects  to create mixed media work. Each element takes me on a  journey which leads me to newer explorations.”

Éilis Ní Fhaoláin creates mixed media sculpture and drawings which are characterised by a playful approach to ideas .

Éilis studied at Crawford College of Art and Design,Cork and Birmingham City University, England. (M.A. Fine Art).  Since then she has exhibited in Ireland , UK , Germany and Italy. Her  work is  in the collections UCC and Cork County Council . She has participated in many Artist in Residence schemes particularly within Schools and Communities.  Éilis is a founding member of Backwater Artists Group Cork, where she continues to work.
