Constance McKenna is a graduate of the CIT Crawford School of Art & Design, living and working in Cork City, Ireland. Her medium of working combines drawing and textiles. The key theme within her work is the Irish landscape – an exploration of the fragility of Irish native woodland and other aspects of nature and habitat. McKenna is also a maker of basket coiled forms, which provide aesthetic and functional value.
“My work and the reasons behind my creative process are influenced by the Irish landscape. Aspects stemming from the Irish landscape that are seen in my work include maps, topography, dendrochronology, features from coastal regions, as well as concepts drawn from the current issue of climate crisis and pollution.” Constance McKenna, 2019.
