“I work as a professional artist in my own studio in Cork. In 2010, I graduated from the Crawford College of Art & Design with a B.A (Honours), Fine Art, in painting. I was a member of the Backwater Artists Group studios for two years, the first nine months was a prize: Post– Graduate painting bursary from the Crawford College of Art & Design. My background is of mixed nationalities, my mother was Irish and my father was French. I grew up in the Loire Valley, but spent every summer holiday in the Cork and Kerry regions. My work is influenced by the environment I grew up in. In France I was surrounded by a vast landscape with rows of groomed vines, and sunshine, while in Ireland the landscape looked so wild and remote with its mountains and sea, always under unpredictable skies that bring sudden changes of light and temperature. Those sudden changes of light sometimes create a very dramatic atmosphere and change the landscape.” Brigid Delahunty 2019.
